discus vs cardinals

ok so i have 6 discus at the moment and i was wonder if i should add 2 more or should i go with 50 cardinal tetras?

this will be for a 75g tank

water changes will be 75% a day every day

i have 5 discus and about 24 cardinals and it looks great. cardinals are a great contrast to discus imho. :)

I would go with the cardinals. A 75g tank with only 6 discus could use some schooling action from the cardinals.

schooling tetras are great in a discus tank, IMHO 25 would school better then 50

I use to have cardinals with discus, they're beautiful together. They give a different look and feel to the tank than just discus or cardinals alone. I only have discus now due to me losing everything when I bought some parasite infected discus from a seller from Craigslist, never again will I buy via Craigslist (don't know the sellers like here on this forum). But, I love the look of discus and cardinals.

ok so i think i will go with cardinals

i am confused about some things. i read that small scholing fish brings out the discus but at the same time i have also read that fish that swims alot may stress out the slow moving discus

so which is true? are they both true?

Maybe fish other than cardinals may stress out discus; but, I never seen any discus I had stressed by cardinals. If anything, it is the cardinals that shy away from the discus. The discus do not seem to mind cardinals in the least and seem less prone to getting startled with cardinals in the tank. They seem to be great tank buddies.

I am really prefering my runnynose tetras
I also have some neons/cardinals

Neon/cardinals don't school nearly as well. And...seem to randomly die


No doubt, though....neon/cardinals are much more colorful

Make sure you quarantine them whatever they are.

my brother has 7 Discus with 12 Rummynose and 10 Cardinals..
it looks great..
Rummynose and Cardinals schools together..it looks amazing..

if you have 6 dwarf gourami (males) chances are they will fight until you only have one.
