Hey guys. Sorry for asking so much, but, in a 55 gallon fish tank, would 74-76 degrees F be enough? Or does it have to be in the 80's? if so, i need to get a new heater. -.o

Suggest you think about the Eheim Jager, with a max temp setting of 93 F. Many other heaters only have max temp setting of 86 F, and that makes it difficult to maintain temp well above 80 F, particularly if your tank is uncovered, or partially uncovered, and the room temp is around 72 F.
Discus are known, generally, not to do well in temp under 80 F.

Hi,

I just added 2 300 watt into the sump to heat my 280. They are doing great. I know it seems like a lot of Watts but I live in AZ and haven't turned the heat on in my house for over 15 years. When it does get cold I do use a pellet stove to take the chill off. Luck.

New heater, Ehiem Jager. 82-88F is preferred but it depends on their age.
