Hi,

Well the tank is cycled and I am going to add a few fish on Wed. and Friday. Just thought I would show this pic of what it looks like now. I will add discus just after the first of the year.

Good looking, simple tank. Reminds me a lot of DiscusNoob. What do you plan to stock it with?

Very nice! Looks like a biotope, would be great for wild discus. What strains are you purchasing?

Hi,

Thanks for the great comments.

I am going to start with the following, which will be arriving this week:

Sterbai cories from mmorris
Rummy Nose from Hans
Bristlenose also from Hans

After the first of the year I am planning on 22, 4" size discus, I thinking of 4 of each of the following:

Brilliant Turquoise
Red Turquoise
Red Scribbelt
Alenquer
Marlboro Red
Silver Pigeon (just two of these)

None of the discus are written in stone yet, so that list might change as the order time comes nearer.

Hi,

Thanks for all the great comments. I am looking forward to adding the discus, I just want to make sure that all is well with the tank before I add them.

After this one I have another 280 and a 180 to set up. I guess I will be busy and broke for the next few years.LOL.

I'm lovin it. we think alike. mine is just a smaller version. I agree that wilds would look awesome. you may want to think about the reds and pigeons. i think you'll get a lot of peppering with the dark tank.

Nice tank......just curious yr routine water changes for the tank.......aged water or direct from the tap.......even 40 % w/c daily .....that's a lot of water.

Hi,

Thanks all for the comments and the advise.

Second Hand Pat: A little far to throw the 180 lol, I will however send you some pics when I get it up and running.

3Dees: Thanks for the advise on the reds and pigeons. As I said the discus list is not written in stone, I will have to keep in mind
about the peppering. I am open to all suggestions about what discus to stock.

Seanyuki: I am planning on about 40% every two days. I have a well so I will be using aged water. I have a 150 gal plastic tank
that I used for RO storage when I was into saltwater. I will throw a couple of air stones and a heater, rig up a pump to
pump it to the tank. My well produces 14 gal per min. so it is a great well for out here, also, I haul bulk water for
a living so I will always have water.

I heard from Hans with a few comments about the tank I will be changing a few small things. Thanks for the advise. Thanks to all

what will you be changing? (just curious)
I LOVE this type of tank-look! where did you get the driftwood???

btw I can vouch for the dark=>peppering phenom......I changed my white substrate for BB, and now my 2 PBs are showing peppering :(. may have to add sand & lighter background!

Hi,

Just rearrainged the wood on the left side. Hans pointed out that the branch laying on the sand would collect junk that would be hard to get to. The wood came from PC, I was very happy with the wood and the service, he is a sponser here so that is a plus.

It would be almost impossible to change the back color, it is painted on the back glass. I will be looking for stocking suggestions shortly. I think the next 280 will be set up the same but will do wilds, if I can figure out how to provide them with soft water..

I have added some fish to make sure everything is OK before I add discus most likely after the first of the year.

this is a wonderful tank-- minimalistic, almost Zen in design, and very, very dramatic. My gosh. stunning. Cannot wait to see your fish in it.

Hi,

Thank you Judy. Sometime after the first of the year I will be adding discus. I just added RNT, BN and some cordies. I want to make sure that the filter/sump (75 gal tank) is well established. Everything so far is going great. Thanks again for the comments on my tank.

Tank looks nice, although a bit dimly lit for my tastes. I prefer to clearly see what's going on with the fish, and dim tanks don't really give a good view of them. Good luck with the new fish.

Hi,

Thanks all, I have to pick up the fish at FedEX at about 10:30 AM. By the time I get them home, in the water and relaxed it should be tomorrow for pictures.

Darrell, the tank is brighter then the pictures show, it will be easy to see what is going on with the fish and the tank. I still need to practice my photo skills.
