How do you do it? Is it height or nose to tail? Fins included? Thanks.

It's like anything else concerning the size of fish. They start out this big....then they're this big..............then, they're THIS big!>>>.................................)>

Maybe I wrote the question poorly. If I buy a 4" discus from someone, what does that dimension represent? Is it 4" from nose to tail, or 4" tall, or something else? I'm just not familiar with the convention that is commonly used to size them. Thanks

You didn't write the question wrong. Most of the sponsors and hobbist breeders here use TL (total length) which is from the tip of the nose to the end of the tail. A few use SL (standard length) which is from the tip of the nose to the base of the tail. I generally assume when people give a size they are using TL but it wouldn't hurt ask when making a purchase.

You are too fast for me Skip, lol.

But be carful. Some people measure their discus like warlock measures his :o

This is yet another good reason to use a reputable dealer.
