While most of ya'll have not been around long enough to know who he was Jim Quarles was a dear friend of mine. Now I did not agree with him on everything and he could be full of crap but he was also a great guy once you got to know him. He has now been gone several year, but last night another good friend of mine surprised me with a Cristmas gift. 4 breeding cones that Jim had made years ago. Now Jim was not very good at it, but they mean the world to me....So I just wanted to say thanks to Yim11 ( Also named Jim ) for the surprise. It means more than you know buddy.

Nice thing to do, Jim. Like John, Jim was a friend of mine, too. He donated his time and books to many aquarium societies while he was alive, and did most of it for free. He helped our club before it finally went the way of many societies, down the tube. Several years ago I was going to dump the cones he sent to me on AB as I perfer to let the fish spawn on the glass, but couldn't. I wrapped them in paper and stored them. I'll most likely never use them, but I will always keep them. If only the cones were as good as his books. They were butt ugly. lol

But Barb, they are. The picture really doesn't show the real ugliness of them. lol

I really thought Jim was supplying props to the porn industry in California and he thought, Gee, maybe a discus would spawn on these. Bingo - a crossover product for two markets.

Ha ha ha, glad you had a good party John.

There's no doubt that Jim is a class act. He's helped me out of a few toughs spots. Right now he's babysitting 13 of my Discus because I've been traveling so much for work.
