Is your tank ever in direct sunlight?
-If yes, block it or move the tank.
-If no,
How many hours do you run your tank light per day?
-If >8hours shorten your light cycle.
-If < 8hours,
Do you over feed your fish(more then they eat in just a few mins) and if you do, do you clean it up afterwards?
-If no, Start.
-If yes... you need to find someone who knows more than I.

Thankyou James For the advice !

And also thanks for the compliments! I really like the color and pattern on them also and hardly any peppering.

How old would you say these guys are ,any guesses?

they're about 2-4" all of them

well.. it is difficult to say.. but i would say they are not young based on size.. the cobalt (there should be stress bars) looks stunted.. he has really big eyes compared to body (looking at last picture).. the tang. also seem to have large eyes.. they all look about the same size.. if i have to guess.. 8-10 months.. they will still grow a little bit more.. but you should see them get alot thicker.. and pelvic fins get longer as they age..

now that i look at it closer.. the TANG. have really long fins already.. they could be older, the Blue/cobalt is younger.. much shorter pelvic fins

this is my guess base on pics given..

ah, thats what i was worried about was stunted fish! they looked good though when i was picking them out though.
and for the cobalt without the stressbars would you say he is stunted or diff. strain?

like i said.. they will still grow, probably not a 7" fish.. but 5" or so..

i will need someone else to correct BUT Stress bars are more visible (just like a color pattern.. not really "STRESSED" as in bad).. i think it may have some BLUE blood in it.. but those lines also look orange.. in pic.. is orange looking in person?!

the pelvic fin is an observation i have made of young fish and as they age..

these are pics of 3.5" colbalts from a previous Kenny Shipment.. (ps. look at the pectoral (NOT PELVIC, my bad) fins, kind of short.

you can kind of see some bars..

i believe that fish of yours may have some PB in it.. with some Cobalt.. hence lack of Stress Bars.. (my guess.. another may know more.. )

it's really hard to tell based on the pictures, I do not beleive the tangerines are stunted but you really need to get a picture of them when they are standing still and not swimming. The only good picture of the tangs is the first photo with the one at the top at rest. Also, you would need to be a bit more accurate with your description of size.....2 to 4 inches is quite a variance and represents approximately 2-3 months of developement. The cobalt looks odd to me, but I have never raised this strain so I am not sure what they should look like at that age......

Looking a bit more it really looks like that cobalt is just a lightly colored/patterend fish from the same batch of fry. Your second picture gives him the stunted look, but the in his first picture he looks fine........

They are not Grade "A" fish. But my first discus are not great as well. You can still grow them out and get happy healthy fish. My adults are about 6inches now total leangth.

Lets be honest a decent looking discus beats out 95% of other freshwater fish hands down. :D

Until he has some better pictures I think it is a bit premature to make that statement, pay carefull attention to the discus on the top on the first picture......

the more i look at the COBALT.. i think its a white butter fly.. :) :)
i like ORANGE FISH..
fyi.. IF you start to see little back specs on the fish.. it will be PEPPERING>. its a genetic thing.. and black substrates kind of HASTEN it.. don't worry.. it won't hurt the fish.. thats IF it shows up..

To me it looks like the Cobalt has Tangerine and Blue Cobalt parents and he is in the middle of them both, i wish my 1st Discus had been this colourful:)

Warlock4169- He does look like a White butterfly in the pics, but then again i did have the flash on which made him lighter, he is blue though, but could possibly be a white butterfly.
and yep they've got slight peppering on the face and fins. but i dont think they'll have much. (:

I really dont see a cobalt in that blue fish. Too much orange and no bars. Perhaps a blue diamond or cobalt crossed with a pb. The orange ones are really orange. :)

I love the pattern & color of the tangs! and your 'butterfly/cobalt' - I've never seen Discus like that!
good luck with them :), and post more pics as they grow.

ps - what size tank is that? curious, it almost looks like my 40g high, altho photos are deceptive...
