Anyone keep bettas. These are up in my lfs as imbellis at 5£ per pair. I am unsure but the males are very pretty. They about 3cm standatd length.
Any ideas and sorry about the pics. The male is steel blue fins and a blue red body.

Can you provide some recommendations on where to get good betta stock? My local fish store has terrible ones for sale. Most of the sellers offering decent fish on aquabid are from overseas... was hoping to find someone in the US. I have a small tank that recently became available and I'm considering using it for a betta.

Thanks

I use to breed and keep bettas and even sell them on aquabid. From what i can see, the female in the first picture looks very stressed, however it is believable that she is a true imbellis from the small head to the long body and shape of the tail. However, the male looks to be in very bad shape. Huge eyes, open mouth, and skinny and closed fins, usually a sign of illness? He does not look to be imbellis because of his fin shape and color. He looks like a normal plakat... the cambodian female on the bottom looks fine though. There are a few sellers in the US on aquabid who sells decent bettas. Otherwise, all i can say is Petco and Petsmart carries bettas too and some actually arent that shabby.
