I just bought a cone from barb and was wondering how to put it in the tank. My tank is a sand bottom. Thanks in advance for help

I would rinse it well inside and out. As you ease the cone into the tank tip first so to not catch air inside the cone then turn tip side up and place on the bottom. I do not place the cone to close to the back or sides of tank to allow the fish room to access all sides.

Well, now most people use slate for Angelfish breeding. When I used to breed Angelfish, I used the cones. So maybe that is still the best method for breeding Discus too.

But Pat can answer that better than me.

discus like to lay eggs on a slope.. so you give something that is kind of tempting.. as opposed to a vertical wall or water intake for filter

Why let them spawn I glass as opposed to cone, PVC, flower pot etc....

I was wondering if a slate would be better....easier for the male to do his job

I see a lot of cones that are really narrow....the males have compound curves to navigate to fertilize

Would a slate be better?

I went from a tall, skinny cone to a fat short cone and swear I had improved fertilization rates
