To me this discus is pretty good. She is 4.5" and about six months old. She is stunning and i like the shape. I still prefer my wild type but for a line bred she is stunning. She moved just at the wrong time..... Is she any good or am i dreaming?

The Yeti, Big Foot, UFO's.. and the perfect Discus. Do they really exist? The pics are always blurry we may never know.

The perfect Discus does not exist but a fish can be evaluated if the pics are good. Since you haven't posted in the Universtiy section I would like to give you my opinion of "her". First, I need to be able to see clear pics of the fish, head on and from each side.

At 4.5", this fish is most likely too young to be judged in the Discus U. If it is old enough (~12 months), then it is a small discus.

Granted. But this fish WAS NOT presented to the University. It was presented to the general membership for our opinions. The fish is 6 months old and 4 1/2". I evaluate fish of that age and size that I own. I picked my own "keepers" at that age. I started selecting when they were only 3", but I did some changing of my mind along the way, and added a couple when they were close to 5". Before 3" it was either "keep it" or "Discus to Hybiscus" (feed 'em to the roses).

I would love to evaluate the potential this of this fish, knowing full well that things can change. It would be fun for me. A all I yearn for are decent pics.

Yes, I know all that, Liz. I was just saying, that's all, my testy little friend.

I ain't testy. I just yearn for a little jois de vivre, a little spice, a little passion around here. I may be small, but I am mighty.

To the OP. If we haven't scared you off please post some better pics.

Sorry my photo skills are rubbish. As i said this discus is 6 months and 4.5" the striations are not great but i think the shape is good. Food is mussel sera discus and tetramin. The tail is black so doesnt come out well.

Pretty clean PB but IMHO, that is not a 6 months old discus.

Ive had it for about four months. How old you think and is it stunted? Has grown quite a bit since i got it at 2" total length.

Shape is a bit oblong, but I don't think it can be call stunted just yet. It may be a bit behind, but time will tell. Color and pattern aren't bad and it appears pretty clean. I think your pictures are hurting others opinions here, you need to capture a picture when he is perfectly perpendicular to the camera. The slight angle makes it hard to judge shape and eye/body ratio.
