I have an acrylic tank with a black back ground that i would like to lighten up. Is there a paint i could use that would be safe?
Thanks,

yeah, the back piece of acrylic is black so painting the out side would still leave the inside black. :(

I would not paint the inside of the tank. The fish will die.

I guess i should have used the search feature first. I seem like Krylon Fusion seems to be the choice for painting inside an aquarium. Anyone see why painting the back inside with this would be an issue? It's not a display tank, just going to be for growouts.

Why not leave it if it's not a display tank and just a grow out, is it on display still?
Seems a lot of hassle if it's not.
Is it one of the Nano cube type tanks?

No, it's a 60 gallon tank running it bb and the discus really darken up in there. It makes it hard to tell what's going on in there. A fish can be getting sick and i don't notice it as soon as i should because they are allready a little dark.

From what i have heard, Krylon fusion is used when painting inside DIY custom styro backing. It just requires a fair bit of curing time. It bonds very well to acrylic as well.
Have never tried it myself but appears to be fine. I would be extra cautious and give it a go with some cheap dollar fish for a week or so.

Why do people answer stuff that they have no freaking clue about?

Other than the above mentioned paint you can also use any marine grade epoxy. It has been used for years before some of the misguided folks above were even born....

Not sure in Chicago, but I would guess that any boat dealership should be able to give you some direction. It is expensive but works well.

You have to remember for the people born in the mid 70's. We were told not to eat paint chips and lick the walls in grade school because paints were lead based and would kill us!!!!!!! So that is were it may be coming from lol.
