i got the 7.5% Levamisole (100 grams) from Igo-Pro

i mixed it with 100 ml of distilled water..

it is very milky, is this the way its supposed to look and i was going to apply at 2.5 ml per 20 gallons..

i got Levamisole from aquabid/joe gargas.. it must have been the pure stuff.. it mixed clear..

question is.. did i mix correctly? and do i store in fridge or not..

Yeah joe has the stuff that is nearly pure, vermisol is messy but does the job. Store it in the fridge in a dark bottle and toss it after a year.

Skip,

I have never put it in the fridge, when you add it to the water it should look fine. However 24 from now your tank will be really cloudy.

Hey

I used levamisol last June on those blue turqs I got from angelfish USA .

Mine was the 7.5 % solution NOT 100% . Named vermisol . Lavamisol hydrochloride.

It was milky looking. But went away when it went into the tank.

Dunno if that helps.

You did it right . use the 2.5 ml for 20 gal Is a little messy but it works. I kept mine on the fridge right the date you mix it with a sharpie or something so you know when to toss it after a year, This method was post by Al a while back and it work for me.

No it wasn't fully dissolved, I just shook it real well and tried to get a good concentration of the stuff.

Get on Facebook to get ahold of Dave , I see him on there quite a bit.

Skip - just curious, why did you premix all of it with water rather than measure the dry amount you'd need each time?

Keith.. Thats the way the 7.5 powder mix was instructed.. I dont mind having the extra... For qt stuff

Sean.. Thank u! Thats exactly I wanted to know!

That link that Cevoe pointed out if you read thru it that is the way Al and some other people said they use it. But Eddie said he just uses 380mg / 10 gallons and doesn't premix it.

Sounds like either way will work fine I guess just depends on what is easier for you

I read all those threads myself and found all of it very complicated and not easy to do.

With all the people talking about 7.5 % and 100% different ways of measure and all it was frustrating.

I wish someone would post a way to use this stuff in an easy to understand format.

Like

1 teaspoon to x amount of gallons.

All the premixing and measuring after that is confusing .

Then another one for the 100% stuff.

Does anyone know if you can use Levamisole with tetras, cories, and plecos in the tank or do those need to be removed before using it?

Hmm, I got dry instructions from David Rose. His instructions say to use 93.75 mg for each 10 gallons. The stuff definitely doesn't mix real well at first, but when added to the tank it does seem to dissolve before too long.

thanks keith..

i got ahold of Eddie last nite..

i guess.. it will dissolve WHEN added to more volume of water.. and the 100ml to 100 grams is away to dispense it.. the Leva. product i got from aquabid dissolved all the way.. so this kind of cause me to freak out..

so i guess i am ok now.. :)

thanks guys..

at least i hope others who see this issue will now have a thread that addresses there question when they have it.. :)

So did Eddie say to use it in a mix or dry and just add it to the tank?

Skip

he said, that the 100g to 100ml was fine.. (distilled water) and just add 2.5 ml per 20g

No need to mix the entire bottle. Just make a slurry for the dosage you need for each treatment. The slurry mix will dissolve completely when added to the tank water. Your tank water may turn cloudy at some point depending on the instructions you follow. Feel free to contact me for my recommendations or look under my sponsor page using the link below.

Skip, I would just think it would last longer than a year if you kept it in the dry form.

+1 In dry form the expiration date on the Vermisol that I sell has a two year shelf life.

Yes, from my own experiece it is Ok with Hypancistrus, Pekoltia and Ancistrus ( plecos ). The following are in my display tank with my discus: L46 - zebra's, L 66 - king tiger, L 134 - Leopard Frog, L 260 - Queen, L -450 Santarem and Long Fin Albino Bushy nose pleco. It did not phase them at all. Yes i'm nuts for even trying it. However, i would always use the recommended dose at 750 mg per 20 gallons. If you are using IGO PRO (David Rose ) - Vermisol (7.5 % ) the proper dose would be 2.5g per 20 gallons. Eddie's advice even back then was to purchase a good weighing scale. 3 years later i'm still using it. Cheers
