i live in south Florida and the weather here at this time of year is almost perfect all of the time. but it does once in a while drop. like these past two days it got much colder. last night being the coldest when it was at 37 degrees(i know thats not much for you guys). anyway i had to add another heater to the tank to maintain the right temperature. how do guys control it when it gets really up there and what heaters do you guys recommend?

I for one keep my house warmer in the winter then summer. So if anything my heaters are working less then when I had the air cranked. I like to be comfortable and am willing to pay a little extra. Of course its 60 today new record high.

Ha-Ha Rick that was good.
Just to add that not only do we live in houses but my house has a furnace.

I believe they wrap insulation around 3 sides of the tank. They use that foil looking stuff that has air bubbles in it.

Man, what a day,eh??..59 degrees here, that's gotta be 70 or 80 degrees different than last year...draining some tanks outside even!
Double and triple Jager's in most tanks....(I heat the room, so they are in a box right now)...
our ambient house temp is 69. That's more stable than the summer fluctuations..(we don't have air, just big trees)...

2 heaters per tank. also set the furnace on 70 and leave it. no air in the summer just open window and ceiling fans.

My heaters heat my whole shop. The aquarium heaters. But yeah...we have central heat ..so the house is warm.

i'm cheap when it comes to heating oil i let the house get down to 50 at night and i keep the heat on about 62 during the day i have 2 heaters in my discus tank and just added cardboard to 3 sides to help keep the heat in.... i have duct isolation (the silver stuff with the bubbles in it) on 3 sides of my angel tank that one is up stairs... its an old house i don't have radiators on the second floor but one heater seems to keep the temp pretty well.

the boiler is older than me. :) trying to get a few more years out of it i put in a hot water tank last year a new roof this year, the boiler is my project for next year its like 40% efficient... costs a fortune to run even at those low temps. And its just me in my house paying my bills... sadly the cat, dog, and fish don't pay rent...

I have two Cascade 300w in my tanks to maintain 84F with them in my basement. The wood burning stove helps with the insanity that is Ohio weather.

our place is kept 24 most of the time since the guy on the first floor is one of those forever cold people. We live on the third and keep our windows cracked during the winter lol. I use two heaters in my tanks and thats about it. It gets a bit hairy if we have a black out thou. :/ We are pretty lucky in toronto, everywhere else gets winter much worse than we do, sometimes only about an hour or two outwards can mean a few feet of extra snow.

This winter is a tame one so far thou :D

Same with me lol. I keep my house at 64. I hate bills and would rather spend my monies on hobbies.
