I was woundering if you keep pencilfish discus because they don't get very big and school? Or because of there body type the discus would eat them just like neons and cardnals. :)

Are the discus adults? My big discus have never waten any fish even guppy fry.
Btw neons are bad cant take the high temperatures.

I don't recommend pencil fish. I think they are boring and don't even school. I have a few in my tank. I don't care for them at all.

a mate of mine has them, about 20, in with 8 large nhamunda blues, the water has a slight brown tinge and looks awesome

I have some nannostomus eques pencilfish and they are some of my favorites. They do not live with my discus though. They are in a heavily planted tank which suits them. I think it depends on what your set up is like-open/planted,etc, but I don't think they'd be a problem with the discus themselves.
