Phenomenal Fish Auction for Simplydiscus From Kenny and Forrest...Snow Snakes

Hi all ,
I have some great news for you all and for the forum.. Two of our sponsors, Kenny and Forrest, have offered to auction away a group of 10 Discus with proceeds to go to the Forum. The fish are a group of very nice White Pigeon Snakeskins Crosses...something a bit different than whats normally offered. These 10 fish were brought in by Kenny specifically for this auction, he won't be selling any on his current order. I've been told I could name this strain...never had the pleasure of doing that before, but hey why not...How about Snow Snakes :) ?

Heres how the auction will work... You post your bid in this thread for one fish...at the end of the auction the highest bidder will have the chance to take any number of the fish up to 10...So they could pick 1, 5 , 7 etc or all ten...at the winning bid price.

Once the high bidder gets their fish reserved...the next highest bidder gets the same opportunity of the remaining stock... we'll continue down the line until all the fish are sold..

The bids are binding! If you are one the high bidders and there are fish available you must take at least one...so thats where things get tricky...best to bid high and bid often, getting the numbers of fish you want.

All shipping fees are the responsibility of the bidders..Kenny will offer his normal low shipping rates and of course you can add the winning fish to an order with him for non- auction fish.
Bidders must be in the USA or be able to cross the Canadian Border and pick them up at a fedex location in the USA...no exceptions . Delivery will be made with 1 week of the auction close, or at our discretion shortly there after.

This auction will go on for 6 days. I will close it out Sat Jan 21st at 10:00 pm eastern time.

I'll post some pictures now of the Fish at Forrest's. Kenny has received these fish and will post tank shots as soon as all settle in.

Now a few questions ;)

I beleive this is called a dutch auction, in which I have seen run a few different ways. Lets say my bid of $75.00 gets beat by two more bids, and then I bid again. Does the original bid of $75.00 still stand?

For instance, lets say two more bids are recieved, one for $80.00 and another for $85.00. I then bid $90.00 and the auction concludes with my $90.00 bid as high bid. I then select one fish, bidder number two selects two, then bidder number three selects one. This now makes my bid of $75.00 the fourth highest bid, would I be allowed to pick additional fish for that amount as well? Just curious........

And are you allowed to pick out which fish you want from the lot or will that be random selection by Kenny?

the last auction that went like this.. the winner got all the 5"-6" classic Leopards.. or took the majority of them

the way i read it.... highest price.. is price for all fish.... no matter who gets them.. its not one fish at a time..

As for the hand picking...I don't think that thats entirely possibly, but I am sure Kenny would try if you asked.

You get one fish for $100 and the choice to buy more at $100 each if you want.

Here is an example right now Josie has the high bid $80, if she wins and wants all 10 the price will be 10 x $80=$800 plus shipping, now if Josie only wants 6 the the price would be 6 x $80=$480 plus shipping, and than Rick would be offered the last 4 for his high bid 4 x $75=$300 plus shipping. This keeps going down from there to the next high bid if Josie wants 6, Rick 2, than Petet1234 would be offered the last 2 at his high bid.

Remember every penny goes to run SD so if you win Josie and take all 10 you will be donating $800 to the forum!!!

From What I am reading in the rules of the auction. The person with the high bid can get 1 fish at that price. Then the next person gets to choose how many that they want at the 2nd highest bid and so forth until all fish are gone. Basically each person that bids must get at least 1 fish at that price if there are more available. There is nothing in the rules to say that this is not legal. As TNT said. if you don't like it...bid higher than Josie's second or first bid. All it would take is a bid of $79.....(that was NOT a bid) Just an example.

At least this is how I see the rules working. Of course please correct me if I am wrong.

Guys,.. I'll try this one more time.

If you have the high bid at the end of the auction at for example... $100 ... You must take at least 1 fish at $100 ..If you want you can take all 10 fish but it is at your highest bid..$100 each. Doesn't matter what your other bids are. Every bid a member makes is replaced by their next highest bid so there is no point in placing a lower bid than you have... as you are obligated to buy the fish at your highest bid.

Once the person with the winning bid, as in this example...Joe with $100 as his per fish bid decides how many of the 10 he wants, sammy who bid $95 now gets to buy as many of the remaining at that $95 per fish price....but sammy must buy at least one ....then we go to the next highest person, Alfred E.Neuman with a bid of $50. Alfred was smart as he gets his one fish at $50, but is out of luck also, because by the time the list got to him, the higher bidders took 9 of the fish and Alfred E. Neuman wanted more than one...he should have bid higher I guess.

Now does that clear it up? Its really straightforward... Bid high... pick as many as you want at the high price....and then down the list we go.

As always, Forrest's fish upon being tanked here look much more colorful than they first appeared in the preview handheld/bucket pics but it's no surprise anymore...
