DISEASE QUESTIONNAIRE
Problem
1. Please explain the problems with your fish/when and how they started
I'm new to discus and received my first 5 discus on 12/29/11. About 4-5 days after, my 2 clown loaches broke out with ich. At first they seemed to be the only fish affected but on 1/11/12, I noticed that the discus had started flashing. I started an ich treatment and the discus are no longer flashing but seem worse off.
2. Symptoms (i.e. turning dark, excess slime, not eating, clamped fins, flashing, darting, clamped gills, white/yellow/green poop, hiding, headstanding or tailstanding, white on tips of fins, rotting or fungus, blisters/ white zits on fish, bloated, cloudy eyes, wounds)
Turning dark, clamped fins, cloudy eyes, hiding. Clowns are also hiding.
3. What medications/ treatments that you have already tried and results. Include dosages and duration of treatment.
Before treating with meds, I increased the temp to 86 & added some aquarium salt. When that didn't seem to be working, QC was suggested to me. My LFS didn't have it in stock but suggested Kordon Rid Ich + instead saying the chemicals were the same as QC. I started dosing the tank as directed on the bottle (1 tsp for every 10 gallons) 3 days ago. I haven't dosed today because of the condition of the discus. One clown looks like all white spots are gone & the other looks much better but still has some spots.

3 striped cory cats - not affected by ich or ich treatment... at least, so far.
5. Water change regime/ how long has tank been running/ bare bottom or gravel/ do you age your water?
40-50% WC every other day
lightly planted tank
No aged water

I'm going to do another water change right now. I'm nervous to continue dosing the meds but really want to get rid of the ich. I just bought a 20 gallon QT but it isn't set up yet. Should I cut the dosage amount in half? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
