Hey all

I purchased my first discus last Thursday. Out of 6 only 4 survived ( Seems they got a swim bladder problem )
But now I have a blue diamond who doesn't eat anything at all, mean while the others eat everything I throw in there. I haven't seen this discus poo once. Occasionally he seems interested in the foods i throw in the tank, and may nibble once and that's it. I'm not sure what wrong with my discus and don't know if the other discus' death have anything to do with it. Here are my tank parameters:

PH - 6.8
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 0
Temp - 85 F

Did some research and it looks like the signs of the hex. He does appear to have a tiny hole on his head and some lesions on his face..but then again i didn't really observe them to close when i got them as they are skittish. If anybody can help that would be great. BTW i know metro is a cure but those meds are hard to find by me with any luck I'll only be able to but API,tetra, or jungle meds. Hes in a 10G quarantine tank for now ( hes a juvi) Hopefully I can at least get API general cure.

Discus do have nostrils to smell with that could be taken as pitting I suppose. It sounds like you bought a bad batch of fish. Was it from a lfs? Quality of discus from lfs are right around the same as the brown thing I deposit in the toilet every morning. That said without pics or anything its really hard to help at all

No I actually brought them from rocky mountain discus... discus are not usually sold where i live. I would take a picture but my phone is horrible. But from personal observation none of my other discus have such hole/lesions just this one.

Edit Here are some pics..sorry for the quality but i circled in red what i believe are lesions with

Is your tank cycled? Difficult to keep nitrates zero in a cycled tank.

May just be the picture but it does not look like anything to me.

I guess I over reacted, he must of ate something while in the main tank, he had a brown poop today. but still I have trouble feeding him. I don't know how to get him to eat with enthusiasm. he is 8 days since I got him shouldnt he be eating like the rest?

What was he being fed at Rocky Mt Discus? Maybe it will eat something it is used to.

I also wonder, is it a new tank and filter? Keep up on the wc's and keep a close eye on ammonia and nitrites.
Some disagree, but it won't hurt and may help to add salt at 2 tablespoons per 10 gallons.
I would avoid meds for a bit and let them settle in.

I think he was being fed bloodworms and flakes im trying to get them to eat other foods like beefheart too.
