Hudson's latest post got me going. I am going to organize a group buy for this book. I emailed Heiko and cost is going to be the same as the first book. So, if we get at least 10 books, the cost would be $34 ~ $35. I live in DC Metro area, so if I have to ship it to you, it will be another $5 to $6. Please let me know if you want to get a copy.

That's $35 per book? Can you get Volume 1 in that order for that price to count towards it? If so, I would be interested in getting both books. Are you shipping media mail (USPS discounted rate for books) or USPS priority?

Thanks for organizing this. Let me know if you hit ten. I might be willing to buy an extra copy of Volume 1 (if it counts) to get us closer.

So far so good. I don't see why I couldn't get vol. 1, but I will ask. As for shipping, I used priority mail. I can't remember whether it was $4.95 or $5.95 per envelop. I don't know how much shipping will be to Canada from here, so I will have to find out.

I`d like to have both volumes myself if its possible to ship to Canada for a reasonable cost. I`m in Nova Scotia.

No. More the history of discus. Wild in the amazon for volume one and volume two is domestic I believe and the history and timeline etc.

Some of these post read like the poster thinks this is for Bleher Discus Vol 1 and Vol 2. In case there his some confusion that is not what these books are. Go back and check the link. This is Discus Book 2 not the big book.

I think I might be one of the confused ones. Is this the book being offered?
http://www.aquapress-bleher.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=112&Itemid=45&vmcchk=1&Itemid=45

If so, might I ask why it would be $34-35 per book, if I can order it direct for ~€20. $10 less then offered here (or is my math just totally wrong? Which could be very possible, worst subject in school). Again just curious as I thought the point of a group buy was to cut some costs, which led me to believe it was the bigger book getting a deal. Just wondering.

Oh, yeah, I was confused... but Matt asks a good question. It's USD26.50 from the website... that means we pay $13.50 extra (incl shipping). What's the shipping direct from site?

ericatdallas

It's $22 USD to ship to the United States. So $10 savings with group buy...

Yun,
It may be helpful if you post the ISBN for the book (s) this covers... then its up to the buyer to be sure its what they want.

One Euro is $1.6. So, 20 euros is $32.00. $2 to $3 per shipping makes it $34 ~ $35. We basicaly share the shipping cost which is around 40 euros for an order. Shipping for a single copy is around 15 euros.

I did not see it was $26.50 at the website. If so, then the cost would be less than $30. Where did you see it? I can't find it.

Ok. Just cheked the exchange rate and it's now around $1.3 per euro (it was $1.6 last year), so the cost would be lower. So, that means the cost for each book would be less than $30. I will figure out the exact cost and post later today.

Just for clarification this appears to be a "magazine" vs a book. The books are listed here.

http://www.aquapress-bleher.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=7&Itemid=45

That said. Yun, please add me in for the Discusbook 01 and Discusbook 02 magazine.

Here is the Discusbook 01 magazine if anyone is interested

Just to add clarification - the Discus 01 and Discus 02 for this group buy are paperback books about 100 pages. I think some of us are confusing these books with Bleher's Discus Vol 1 and 2, which are 600-700 pages and hardcover usually selling for over $100 if can be found.

I did not see it was $26.50 at the website. If so, then the cost would be less than $30. Where did you see it? I can't find it.

I was using current exchange rates, 1 euro = 1.3213 US dollars

I'm not sure I would pay more than a 1 euro to 1.4 USD conversion either if the site doesn't update in real-time. That's quite a premium. I think most credit cards will convert for you at latest exchange rates with a fee. I went through the checkout process in Euros (but I didn't complete the order) to get the rates.

But I did get a quote of 60EU for shipping, so that will add to the cost. All in all, a group buy does save money...

Maybe the trick is to wait for the Euro to fall :P

Discusgeo2
01-30-2012, 09:07 PM
You would save money on the group buy, if I ordered it direct it would cost me $48.16 at today's exchange rate and I went through the complete check out on the site.

So what is the verdict?

1 Is there going to be a group buy?

2. How much in total (shipping and purchase price) for vol 1?

3. How much in total (shipping and purchase price) for vol 2?

4. How much in total (shipping and purchase price) for both?

5. When can we expect it?

Thx in advance for doing the legwork.

There are a few of you who are confused as to what we are getting. Please see the link for the book we are buying and confirm. AGAIN THESE ARE NOT BLEHER's DISCUS VOL 1 and VOL2.

Book01

Book02

If everyone who I listed above do want the books, then we have 21 books which makes to qualify for additional 10% discount (we need 20 to qualify for the discount).

Here is the breakdown of the cost:

Total Shipping: 42euros. Shipping cost per book: 42/21 = 2 euro
Book cost 19.90 eurous minus 10% = 17.91 euros

Total cost per book: 19.91 euros. Today's exchange rate: $1.3083 = 1 euro

The total cost based on today's exchange rate is: 19.91*1.3083 = $26.04. This cost is to get the books to US (to my house). There will be additional $5 to $6 shipping per person to mail the books in the US. I still need find out how much it would be to ship the books to Canada. Last time I did this, I used paypal to receive the payments and used paypal to pay Heiko. I can't recall whether or not there was any feed because I was paying in Euros.

PLEASE CONFIRM the orders you placed and let me know if you still want the books.
