He really was bothering me. Thats dust on his eyes, usually the fly will clean them but this one had just been killed by myself via a safety pin to the back of the head (saves the body from being squished for pictures!!). Still cool.

Matt - What kind of setup did you use to take that picture. I have a Nikon d5100 not sure what lens to use to get that kind of clarity. Recommendations? Kind Regards, Frank

Thanks all, nah threw the body outside....never know what a fly carries! lol

Frank, I used a Canon 5D MK II camera with the Canon 100mm macro lens on it. To get that kind of clarity that close you would need a macro lens of some sort and/or extension tubes. What lenses do you have available to you?

I remember that...pretty funny.

What I want to know Matt is how you got close enough to stab the fly with a pin.

Pat, I guess with the hot cold hot cold weather we have here that the fly just isn't in good shape. Wasn't flying much at all, just walking everywhere. Pair that with my ninja-like reflexes and you have a dead fly.

I will never look at a house fly the same again. Looks like an alien. Your photo skills are amazing Matt.

Thanks. I've thought about getting into that kind of photography but honestly, it always makes me nervous. Like I'll NEVER shoot a wedding, ever. I'd much rather take pictures and sell them via an online gallery/prints rather then be contracted to take specifics like portraits or events. Idk, just always rather have people pick and choose what they like and have the freedom to shoot then be held to something specific that might not turn out as the person had hoped lol.

Thanks once again all.

My wife is a professional photographer: weddings portraits etc.- Often Isnt as fun as it seems . She spends hours editing and once in a while dealing with unhappy (usually just unrealistic ) clients who just dont understand how photography works.
