Hello everyone . I am new to the forum but a lover of discus
I have had my beautiful discus disease free and happy for 3 years in a 29 gallon .. a few weeks ago I decided to add him to a 55 Gal new home to give him more room together with some new community fish . I used my old filter ,stockings filled with old gravel , have been watching the PH , ammonia which creaped up over the last 2 days. Today while doing a 10% water change I noticed my discus wasn't really hungry and his dorsal fins are a little clamped. Then I noticed he has 2 white things sticking out of his side gill . PLEASE SOMEONE hurry and tell me what I should do ! Is it fungus / parasite ! helpppp please I love my discus 72163

They are not gill or skin flukes. These cannot be seen with the naked eye, need a microscope for that.

Look like some form of pustule, probably cartilaginous matter. Usual causes are a lack of calcium, phosphorous or vitamin D. For treatment just make sure you are on top of water quality and feed it a balanced diet.

Did you read it? "Due to their small size they are hardly visible."

Good new put the fungus cure and after 48 hours the white things are gone , however he's not eating and today he is up gasping for air / ammonia / ph are ok
just highered the temp from 85 to 90 have two air stones but I am thinking I should put him in a hospital tank ?

How fast can a hospital be set up ? should it just be bare glass with water from the big tank ? is 5 gallon enough for a 1 discus ? should it have gravel on the bottom would that help ?

thanks
