Hi ,
Curious to know how the following crosses would look.
1) Blue Diamond x Red Melon
2 )Blue Diamond x Golden Melon
3) Blue Diamond X Snow White
Got a pair of BDs and contemplating the above crosses.
Thanks

Just my opinion...I would stay with the BD pair.

I was curious with the third option as I have that possibility in my tank...if thats the path you take, let me know how it turns out.

Read somewhere that the Melons have Pigeon Blood genes..in that case mixing with a non pigeon like Blue Diamond would cause a lot of peppering, also like to know weather Snow White has PB genes or is it an albino? correct me if i am wrong.
thanks,

Ad far as i know they are not albinos. Mine has a black and white eye and ghostly blue sheen on fins. Not sure if they have pb. To get the white colouring it is a definate possibility especially considering the lack of albinism.

Snow white originally was a mutation of a brown discus. A dominante gene, barless, white eyes. What yours has in it is anybody's guess.

And an orange is quite possibly from florida due to its lack of apple seeds????

Did some reading... interestingly ..according to Andrew Soh "Whatever strain the Snow -White Discus(SW) crosses with, not only will fifty percent of the offspring express different degrees of SW phenotypic expression but also suppress some other alleles for the same trait from expressing. The face, forehead and the top half of a SW whitish-phenotype are the hardest area for the alleles to penetrate." Then, crossing with the Blue Diamond could possibly give a White faced Blue bodied offspring....something like a ''Blue Melon''??.

More like a blue/white. The ogon yellow whites and red whites are perfect examples of this.
