This is my relatively new planted 60 gallon discus tank. I did originally write up all the details regarding the tank, but then the page decided to refresh, and i lost the post. :/

Needless to say, I'm not in the mood to write everything again, so I'll just go straight to the photos!

nice tank!
me personally....I had a heck of a time keeping my original tank clean, and ended up removing all of my substrate LOL. then added another BB tank! I love the Anubias though....

eco-complete with a little bit of playsand mixed in. aside from the peppering (which doesn't bother me too much), i'm very happy with it!

thanks a lot! i'm obsessed with aquascaping as much as i am with discus, so i could never have a BB tank. truthfully, the tank actually stays quite clean, aside from a tiny bit of algae on the glass. even when i get really ridiculous with the gravel cleaning during WC, i don't find too much debris on the bottom, and the tank is quite heavily stocked - i think the overkill filtration helps quite a bit, aha.

Im the same, i could never deal with a BB tank, too boring for me!
And like you said, its not as hard to keep clean as people think. 75% W/C every 2-4 days and gravel vac until its clean. I have a Hagen gravel vac and i have attached it to a 20foot hose that gets emptied into the bath. The whole process takes less than an hour, half of which i can spend doing something else, like watching TV!

Is that an Otto Cat? Be careful. Kinda tuff 2 tell in the pic. I had Otto cats in my last set up until I saw 1 attached to the side of a discus. Never again.

Tank looks nice. Enjoy it!!!!!!!!

Your tank looks really nice.
@crazycracker: Otocinclus get along with discus well. They may mistakenly suck on discus slime if they are underfed though. One needs to feed them additional diet such as zucchini or algae waffle. Algae in the tank alone will not be sufficient. Greater algae eater to have.

Nice work with the tank!!! Looks great! You might consider placing the heaters low and horizontally (sp). This way you can do larger water changes without exposing the heaters to air and causing the glass to crack when you refill the tank. Just my opinion. Keep up the great work. This site has kept me in the hobby nearly five years. Good luck and GO DISCUS!!!

Have a great night,

you would be surprised at what you don't see due to substrate..
