Hi guys,

About to make a big change to my juvenille discus tank this weekend.
It's going from gravel to bare bottom still keeping my plants just going to place them inside ceramic pots to weigh them down.

My question is whilst I am doing all of this I plan to move my discus into a black bucket with a heater and an airstone, would this be ok or is the complete darkness going to freak them out? I don't want to stress them further.

Any tips would be great, thanks!

Putting them in bucket is a fine plan. I did this a few weeks back with my adult discus. One word of caution. Be sure to put something on top so they can't jump out. I had my discus in the bucket for all of 10 seconds before one jumped out right into my lap. I had a cover (with small holes in it) but hadn't had the chance to put in in place. Also, check on them from time to time to make sure they are ok.

One other thing... be sure that bucket is clean.

This is what I did but I kept my fish in the tank.
