Adding More Discus To Established Discus Tank?

Hi, Newbi here! I have a well established 55g that I finally felt safe enough to get 2 baby pigeons for. They have been there for a month and I really want to add a couple more. The issue is one of the pigeons is a bit bossy. The new ones will be babies, I assume, (I'll have to order them from lfs) and I'm wondering if the others will pick one them too badly. I know they will have to establish a pecking-order, but do you think it will be fair since the new ones will be smaller?:confused:

Before ordering fish from your LFS check the sponsor section here. You may be able to get larger ones for similar prices as the LFS. Better health also without exposure to LFS tanks. Don't forget to quarantine any new fish!

If you are adding smaller new fish to an established tank, yes the smaller fish will be picked on, and the stress will likely lead to problems with them. It's really not a good idea. Better to add fish around the same size.

The best form, in my opinion, to stablish the tank is with the biggest number of discus depending of the number o liters. 55g isn´t the best capacity to have a stablish group.

55g is ok.. its just when they get larger.. there is not enough DEPTH from Front To Back (12").. it can get crowded..

i prefer 18" depth..

In my opinion could be OK depending on the maintenance...if the change of water is each day and the tank is cleaned of any decoration is OK. If not, in my opinion the minimum isn´t less than 65g

Just looked at that thread...whats wrong with a darker discus. Reason I ask is cuz 2 of my fry (2 month old) are a little bit darker then the rest.
