California Discus Shows?

Are there any competitions in/around California? I haven't heard of many (any) on this coast, most are on the East Coast states.

I'm also wondering, why we don't have any Discus competition here in California? I'm sure there's a lot of Discus keeper here in the bay.

We checked out a location , in San Francisco, Holiday Inn for an Discus Show awhile back, one of the breeders offer a $10,000 prize but it didn't go thru. Not too many hobbyist wanted to help out. In the pass the ACA would have a show with Discus on display,
the last two were in San Jose probably a least more than 12 years ago and another ACA show in Sacramento in 2007.

Sponsership is the most important thing to get. Without it, it is just another fish show. If someone could pull some breeders (Kenny for example), sponsers to make donations (ie fish supplies, fish, prize money etc.) and a place centrally located to some of the more "discus" populated areas, you could pull off a good show.

The second most important issue is people participating.
