View Full Version : Should I put an airstone close to the eggs to help with oxygen?

They just spawned about 2 hrs ago. Would it be helpful to place an airstone near the eggs to help augment the 'fanning' or circulation of the water near the eggs? The parents seem to do a good job of fanning, but hoping to do whatever I can to keep the eggs viable with proper air.

OK thank you. I appreciate the input.

Do the eggs seem to develop better in a low-flow tank location or a higher flow tank location? The parents chose to lay the eggs in a high flow location (I have an HOB filter). During the remainder of the egg development stage (I have another 28 hours to go before I might see signs of wigglers), should I leave the flow alone, or maybe move the filter to the other side of the tank to reduce the water flow?

And what about if/when I get wigglers? Would a high flow or low flow be better for them?

I do know that I need to dramatically reduce the flow and water level when it's time for free swimmers to attach.

thanks!
