Problem

1. Please explain the problems with your fish/when and how they started

i have 4 juvies in a 30 gallon grow out tank, 3 of them are fine but my 2 albino's do not seem well they are hiding, fins look a little worn, do not come to the front of the tank as they once did but the other three are fine, also i have noticed some white stuff on my prefilter sponge that i will post pics of. aswell as i see something on one of there fins which i will also post a pic of.

Main problem is i want to add fish from this tank eventually to my 100 gallon but not going to take any risk of chance of adding one of the healthy ones to my new tank that could be carrying something



2. Symptoms (i.e. turning dark, excess slime, not eating, clamped fins, flashing, darting, clamped gills, white/yellow/green poop, hiding, headstanding or tailstanding, white on tips of fins, rotting or fungus, blisters/ white zits on fish, bloated, cloudy eyes, wounds)


i think ive spotted some white feces, hiding, somewhat clamped fins



3. What medications/ treatments that you have already tried and results. Include dosages and duration of treatment.

this tank was treated a few months ago first off with a de-wormer, then a round of api general cure for around 9 days, then again another straight metro treatment a few weeks later which lasted around 10 days

4. Tank size and age, number and size of fish

30gal, 5 fish, fish range in size none break a 5inch mark (i think) will post pics, tank is over a year old, fish im not sure

5. Water change regime/ how long has tank been running/ bare bottom or gravel/ do you age your water?

everyday but sometimes skip days because of being busy

I cannot see anything in the pictures that would be a cause for concern. The close up of the dorsal fin just shows a slightly substandard shape and not any rot or anything. The fish look quite healthy, if a tiny bit stressed. The stress is probably from the open sides rather than illness. The muck on the filter is probably nothing to worry over, looks more like slime coat than faeces.

okay i;m happy to hear that, but on second note i have found more what looks to be white feces on the sponge pre-filter and also bottom of the tank, what is this sing of? should i deworm, metro, prazi? do nothing? lol i will be taking my pb out of the tank this week and putting it inside of another smaller tank for a 2 week qt then move it into my 100 gallon

Unless you actually see the fish pass something I would do nothing other than good husbandry.

um.. you don't medicate just to medicate..

if you prefilter has gunk on it..

then clean it

i prefer you increase the temp little bit to 86 F .. it will be better for discus ..
for feces problem : if they are eating well so don't mind its normal
if not eating try use medication called FLAGYL (Metronidazole ) its for internal parasites and very effective
Dose : 1000mg / 100 litre
