guys,I have this colbalt that really needs his *ss whooped :)This fish is constantly hitting and nipping ALL my other fish(7 others). They all act aggressive towards one another but this is brutal..Hes in the middle of the tank and the others are on opposite sides, staying very clear. They try and eat and hes constantly slamming them.Hes not even the biggest. What gives, are my fish getting to big for their tank?(8,4.5"-5.5")in a 75.Started feeding Eddies seafood mix and the aggression has increased MORE!Any suggestions??!!

Do you have a quick video? That may help us a little more on whether they are just aggressive or lookin to pair up(which seems kind of early at that size). All my pairing fish (angels/discus) are very mean to the point of killing, and there is normally a pair out of all the agression. Seems odd that each and every fish is so aggressive to the others...

Im going through the same thing too. I have a 2.5 incher chasing the hell out of another discus twice his size! He's kept in check by the others i have, but he doesnt let that one fish he picks on breathe. I tried dividing the little bugger, but he acts all down. as soon as hes with the others hes super active...and super mean

Ya I realize they are cichlids but I would like the others to eat too. What size is sexual maturity anyway?I thought 5" was early adulthood.Soon theyll be moving into a 125 maybe thatll slow em down...or give em more exercise running!

Its called the pecking order lol survival of the fittest! Its normal behavior in every animal. Dont fret if you took the bully out another would take its place no worries!

Maybe your discus had piranah genes. that might explain why

haha survival of all after the time and money ive soaked in these suckers ;) And I had a group of piranahs when I was a kid ,full grown with less aggression than this fish!!

I had one who was extremely agressive like that..and it was brutal..I had to seperate before he stressed the others to the point of illness. They don't always work it out.

I agree, Jennie.
I had one in a 100 gallon tank with four pair and a couple singles and it was relentless.
The minute I took it out the entire tank changed.
The pairs started spawning again and everything went back to business as usual.

Does adding more discus lessen the aggression further? My turq seems to only pick on my red cover specifically more than any other in my tank. Ill be getting 2 more next week.

They will always work it out...just not maybe in the way we would like. Animals fight. It is 100% natural. You could take the bully out, but that is the only thing that you can really do.

take out the weak one.. it will usually be stunted and frail.. let the strong one thrive
