my water temp is at 84 degrees for my 55g tank. i have the thermometer on the opposite side of the heater. the discus always crowd around the heater or rest up against the upper corner of the tank. can someone tell me whats wrong with them. thanks in advance for the advice/opinion.

They like it hot? LOL

Unless they are acting ill or not eating well, I'd figure it was just some odd discus behavior. Might want to check to be sure the water is getting enough aeration, other than that, I can't think of anything in particular that would be wrong with them based on your description. (remind me to tell you sometime about my flachen who does the "flip flop of death" in order to get me to feed him)

Check the water temp with anouther thermometer. If the water really is 84 then raise it to 86~87 for a week and see if it makes a difference. I bet it does.
