Okay, here this is my first attempt at discus. Initially had them in the tank with all the fake plants, rocks, slate and gravel/sand mix.
Learned REAL fast that was stupid. Now I have a 90% sand 10% gravel substrate and some vertical driftwood branches.
Doing 50% daily WC every evening with aged, aerated, heated water with Prime added.
Sunday, MOnday, Tuesday and Wednesday try for another 50% WC in the morning.

Running 2 aquaclear 70's on the low setting with a prefilter on the intake (just started that).
Temp is at 86 (learned to trust but verify my heater....thought it was at 84 for the first week and a half but was only at 76:mad:)
8 assorted discus, about 14 neons and 2 corys. might add some cherry shrimp(?)

Feeding 5-6 times a day. beefheart flake, bloodworms, tetra color granules but primarily Josie's Turkey Mix.

Hope the pictures post well. I included my 'before' tank pic as well.

I agree 100%.
More discus, then a bigger tank.
Then more tanks and more discus.
Then start breeding them.
Trade the juvies for other strains that I can put in some new tanks.
Then when the ones I got from trading start breeding....

I like your new design with the driftwood and sand. It looks like you are off to a good start. I agree with Josie, those little discus look so tiny in that big tank...LOL..

I love your avatar picture, he is a cutie for sure:)
