72737... somebody told me its hygrophila and can i use it as i cover for the tank water surface ... i intend to cover half the surface of my tank water with plants to reduce light for Discus >>> what do u think ????
looks like watersprite. yes you can. it grows very fast and floats well.

It looks like Water Sprite plant. The resolution of that picture is not good enough to be absolutely sure though. I have no personal experience with Water Sprite. Google is your friend :)

somebody told me its hygrophila .. so can it really planted suspended under water surface
well from this pic it's impossible to tell for sure. Both can grow floating, however.

It looks like water sprite to me,also.I had it and it grew very well just floating,and will send shoots out of the water,also.

it's Water Sprite (Ceratopteris thalictroides)
pretty easy to grow plant, can be planted or as a floating plant

I'd say it looks like Hygrophila difformis because that hygro is a stem plant, whereas water sprite (ceratopteris) is a fern that grows from a central point (like a crown).
If you want a floating plant, water sprite works better.

hmm i might be wrong then, the more i look at it the more i think it might be hygrophilia difformis, thx Walter!

Looks like wisteria to me (water sprite) ive had it and it can be grown floating it kinda grew faster floating than pinned down into the substrate, I guess its because of the extra light its getting. Oh and also it sucks up a lot of nitrates, however this can't substitute waterchanges in a discus aquarium.
