Hi there,
This is my 1st post, please take it easy. Thank you
Here is my story:
-Bought an established 90 gall tank with 2 fluval canister filters (204 and 205 series) including fishes.
-Decided to build a new stand and light hood , so the tank sit on garage for around 2 weeks with about 2 inch of old water and old gravel.
-completed stand and light hood project, filled tank with tap water and prime.
-Using 2 filters with old water, sponges, bio max media,… all came from the established tank
-After 2 weeks of running without fishes (during that time, water tests is good according to the test from LFS).
-Decided to put 24 tetras (neons, lampeyes, glowlights) to the tank
-Water tests still good after 3 day from LFS.
-Decided to purchase discus
-add 8 discus on 3-10 (2- 5.5 in, 2-4.5 in, 4- 3 to 3.5 in).
-2 days later, water tests still good
-bought 3 more discus size 3 to 3.5 in and add to the tank on 3/14
-all of the fish is happy
-Ammonia is around 4 (test at home on 3/15)
-did 50% water change (always with aged water) in next 3 days. Ammonia came down to 2 and stay there till now.
-still doing 30% water change daily but could not bring down ammonia.
-WC treats with prime and stress zyme +
-All fishes is still healthy and eat like crazy (I spent around 15 bucks a week for frozen beefheart, bloodworm…)
-I feed them 3 times a day
-Water test on 3/19 shows: PH 6.8, ammonia 2.0, nitrite 0, nitrate 0
-Water test on 3/20 shows: PH 7.0, ammonia 2.0, nitrite 0, nitrate 0
-Water test using API freshwater master kit
-Water temp always between 30 to 31C
-fake plants and fake driftwoods as decoration
Please help me to bring down ammonia level
TIA.
