I have a new breeding tank cycled and ready to go. My pair is starting to show breeding signs again - cleaning cone, shaking etc. If I relocate them now, is it likely they will spawn soon or does relocating them usually throw off their breeding cycle and delay it?

Just wondering what other's experience is with this.

Thanks.

it's a crap shoot; they could go either way when moved...

Yup, I have had piars spawn within hours of being moved while others it threw off thier breeding cycle for 2-3 weeks. It all depnds on the comfort level of the fish and how spooked they are by the move.

I always recommend letting the pair spawn wherever they choose first. Getting to wiggler stage is very good for bonding and they settle down faster when moved.

I recently moved my Piwowarski pair into a breeding tank. Just before moving them, they were in full spawning mode and probably within hours of laying eggs. After the move, they show no signs of spawning. In my case, moving them spooked them and they are still just trying to get used to their new breeding tank.
