I saw an ads saying there are a pair of blue turq for sale. 180$ for the pair. they are around 15-18 cm, age unknown. i live in canberra and something like this is hard to come by. i do not intend to breed them, i just wanna add few more in my tank. the owner said they are healthy. should i buy?

A good quality picture or video can tell you more, if not everything. Paste that picture or video here. We have tons of sharp eyes to help you.
So far, what I can tell is, $180 for a good quality 6-7inches PAIR is almost impossible.

I wouldn't purchase without seeing the fish. My be a great deal. May not be. But if you don't intend to breed them then that makes me say it isn't such a great deal. $90 each for two blue turqs may just be a average price. A pic will say a thousand words.

If you are close enough to visit, I would go and see them in person. While there you can talk with the owner and get much info on how they have been cared for. Also if they have other tanks, a good discus keeper, often is a good fish keeper.

You also might want to find out what type of pair they are.

A Pair: 2 fish.
A Breeding Pair: 1 confirmed male 1 confirmed female.
A Proven Pair: 1 confirmed male 1 confirmed female, and have spawned free swimming fry/viable eggs.

thanks guy. the fish are sold after 2 hours the owner put it on advertisement. i'm 2 days late lol cos here in the most recommended fish shop the discus like 4-4.5 ( stunted maybe ) are like 150 + each. stunted and some are in the worst condition 2.5" can go up to 40 - 50 $ and they are sold at the end of each week.
