60 Gallon biotope w background - journal

i figured instead of making new threads everytime i updated my tank, i'd just start a journal thread:

installed a background, replaced the board of plywood i had behind my tank - i think we can all agree it looks quite a bit nicer, aha.

thanks a lot! i was worried about purchasing it, since it's a bit bigger than all my fish, but there have been zero issues. it's definitely the most "show-worthy" fish in my tank.

another update: after adding a brace across the top of the tank to hold the water lettuce on one side, i decided to fill up the tank a bit with a plastic fern (i know, fake plants...)

i also put some dried out oak/maple leaves in the tank - they've yet to completely sink, but they're adding a nice glow to the tank when the light hits them.

the tank is 60 gallons. the background wasn't any of the brand name ones some people get - just something i picked up from a petstore in toronto. i think it cost about 25 dollars for each piece, and my tank needed two pieces to cover the entire back of the tank. it definitely looks nicer than having a piece of plywood braced up behind the tank, aha.
