Would a biowheel filter be good for a discus tank? Would I have to clean the actual biowheel filter itself or just change pads every 2 weeks? People say that when you change the pad you lose all the beneficial bacteria, but I thought the biowheel is what it grew on.. So, what are the pros and cons to a biowheel?

they work fine for me, the bb does live in the biowheel not so much on pads.
i like them b.c you can have 2 pads inside the filter at once for double filtration
also i know where you can get the good quality pads for alot cheaper than the like $20 it costs for just 6 pads

i may be selling my 2 or 3 penguin 200 biowheel filters one new, 2 used- 3 months, if you interested
