I'm going to be setting up a breeding tank within the next week. The background will be painted blue the bottom will be white. I have two sponge filters that I have in my established tank to culture bb's. I haven't bought a cone yet was going to see about getting one from a sponsor on here( barb if I remember correctly). Fish will be coming from Hans. My questions start here. What tank size should I be using? 38, 40, 40 breeder or 55? Or maybe something else? I'm open to ideas.

Not sure there is a SHOULD size. Breeding tanks can range from 20 - 75. Its all about how you want to go about it. I've used 20s, 29s and 40s, but that is not a requirement.

There is a guy in a neighboring town gettin out of breeding angelfish. He has a ton of tanks 20's for 15 55's for 35. Incredible deals I want to buy them all lol! Also has sponge filters. Would those be good to buy or should I just get new ones. Obviously if I do get the filters I'll buy new sponges for them to eliminate possibilities of contamination. Insight on this?

For the price of sponge filters, I'd buy new ones IMHO.

Well I ended up with 2-20 highs and 3-55=$120 thought it was a good deal regardless. He was wanting a buck a piece for the filters

Thanks Bill and Josie! He still has 5 more 20's for 10 bucks a piece. It's tempting but I don't want to push my fiances patients with my fish habit lol She was nice enough to let me get this pair! I think I'll just get new filters. No regrets that way down the road
