Looking for a little help on decision making. i am in the process of ordering some of Kenny's April Shipment.
this is my first time with anything healthy in Discus, they are going in a 55 gl which has some manzonita wood in it and PF sand.
simple question, 5 or 6?? i will be purchasing 4 - 5" in size ( although if i go with 5 i will probably have a red cover in the range of 5-6"
and the rest would be 4-5". if i go with 6 they will all be in the 4-5 " range.
sorry for the noob question, just really undecided on this point at the moment.

thanks, Tom

55 is very narrow * 12" deep..

if you can.. look for 75g.. for large discus.. there is not a lot of room to get around each other

You can change more water more frequently in a 55 but definately agree that if you can go 75, go 75.
Much better footprint for large discus.

I always like to go with goups of 6, and as long as you keep up on water changes a 55 is fine IMO. I use allot of 55s but I do daily water changes also.

I currently have 6 in my 55 and I do 25-50% water changes every 1-2 days depending on the levels.

I'd go with 6,daily wc,50% at least,and watch Craig's for a 75.

Just IMO once I got lower then five, the aggresion didnt get spread out enough.Tho you might have plenty of room in a 100.

Already ordered them, yeah it was no problem getting to a top ten list but eliminating 4 to get to the 6 was very tough.
and yeah, i am already looking for that 75 gl. but then, doesn't that mean 2 more Discus? you guys are killin' me:)

nope.. it does not mean you need to fill it up.. the fish will like the room :)

don't worry.. no matter what you get.. you will want more :)

6 is a great number in a 55 gallon tank. Just do water changes daily.
