Hi All,
New to discus but not fish keeping. Purchased some juvenille discus and have them in a barebottom tank with plants and driftwood. Was wondering how anyone arranges it to make it look great without the actual substrate. Just looking for ideas. Sorry, will not post pics of tank or fish as I have read many posts and don't feel like having my fish scrutinized because they may not be exemplar examples of their breed.

Welcome to Simply, great place for info.
I have seen a lot of folks use clay pots, do a search thru the forum for clay pots, you will see some pictures. good luck.

i have used small terracotta flower pots in the past. but plants don't generally do well in the high water temps that are best for growing discus. most people that keep plants with discus do so with adult fish, where pristine water quality and high temps aren't required. IMHO... ,jay

I use theese http://ripariumsupply.com/?page_id=4 but I have pool filter sand for substrate not BB. I also would agree with jay, and wait until they are adults. Hope this is helpful. -lane
