Although my manzantia wood is beautiful, it seems to be shedding..at first I thought it was poop, but now realize that it is small pieces of wood, shedding from the raw edges of the wood. Question: is this harmful in any way to my fish or water quality? I try to vacumm it up, however, it builds up faster then i can keep up with. The wood is beautiful and I would really like to keep it, but not at the expense of my discus! Any suggestions as to how i can eliminate the problem?

soak it somewhere else and strip it down, manzanita is really easy to strip once soaked. no pics needed, and all its gonna do is release tannins.

I have tons of manzanita in my tank and never seen or heard of it shedding. did you get it with the bark still on? do you happen to have a pleco? they will gorge themselves on manzanita and thier waste looks like wood.

Hopefully i uploaded these photos right so that you can see my piece of 'masterpiece manzanita'...in the second photo, in the back, under the air stone, you can see a pile of what I think is small chips of wood. I did recently add a bn catfish, and you've got me wondering if it could possibly be his poop. What do you guys think???

Well....I can't figure out how to decrease the size of the photos so that I can post them here. When I decrease them, they are too small..can someone tell me how to post them from my camera to the web site???

You don't want to use photobucket? no size issues then. Sorry that didn't answer your question but I am just curious.

Open your photo with paint, all PCs have this program
Save, the file will be smaller
go to www.photobucket.com and upload then type in link

if you don't use photobucket you can now click the photo icon on your post quick reply and upload file from computer
it will then...sigh...haha say insert image
from computer, next tab says from url
you want to go from computer
go to select file
get the file you want
and your good to go.
Paint will change the quality of your image but also downsize kb so you can upload

stop trying to resize.. i ran into that and its a pain. if you don't know what your doing.. so i just post what ever pic i take and not worry about resize anymore.. its alot easier that way.. :)

OK... am at my wits end!!!! I now have photobucket, It gives me an option to get my photo from 'computor, web, e-mail etc. When I select 'from computor' it wont continue...it wont give me any prompts to follow, Im just stuck at that point.
When I tried to open with paint, it again was too big.
Since it could take me forever to figure this out, let me just say that my concern about the manzanita shedding, now has me thinking that it might just be poop from the bn catfish. He is a baby though, and its hard to believe that he could produce so much waste. What do you think?
