View Full Version : Why All my Discus Stay at one half of the tank?

I have 6 discus in a 70G but they always Stay at one half of the tank unless there is food to catch on the other side? any Idea?

Two ideas, is the side they are on the darker side of the tank or where the heater is located?

it is the side where the UV and the sponge filter is

Sounds like they are looking for cover. Try putting the sponge filter on the other side of the tank and see what happens.

Is it the side opposite of a filter discharge too where they might be avoiding the current?

The power filter Meriland 280 is on the other side.

so what are your toughts to make them occupy the hall tank? Change the filter?!!

I use Aquaclears similar to the Marineland and I'm guilty of blasting too much current on some tanks.
There's a lot going on with those and also the sponge filters but they adapt and find their spots.
Have you had them for awhile?

so what are your toughts to make them occupy the hall tank? Change the filter?!!Not familier with the filter,but try a spray bar.It will disperse the water more.

I did the same thing but I used SCH 80 pipe for the darker gray color

That's pretty damn impressive...you shot not only one but three good pictures of a spray bar within minutes.
Where else do you get that?
Anyway, I'm pretty sure the Marineland 280 hangs over the back though.

Yes, I do that but when they finish the food they go back to the other side.

when they use to it all will be normal, but if at other side your tank was window that will be the issue. remember everything take time ;)

Yes, there is the balcony window but it is covered with cartains all the time
