new sponges

I just put some new sponges in my existing sump for future use in QT. Water flows through them, so how long should it take for bacteria to colonize them? I was guessing a couple weeks?

I'm doing the same currently. Going to wait two weeks then move it to its own tank with ammonia to see how it does that day.

2-3 weeks,leaning more towards 3.

you can squeze some old sponges right in front of them to speed it up. i would still wait for at least a week.
