Is a 20 gallon long large enough for about 8 baby discus? How long can they stay there or how big can they get before I need to move them?
After that they will go straight into a 110 or 180, depending on my space...

That's perfect, wait till they get about 2 1/2, then move to a 40 till they're 4, then move to display tank, change water 80% daily, feed high protein food and this should take you about 3 to 4 months, do this and you will get nice, beautiful fish

When you say baby, please explain. What age/size? They'll out grow a 20 long in no time at all.

Oh, by "baby", I mean as small as they sell them. 2" maybe... seems like the 20 gallon may be too small already...? 6-8 discus, will try to get 8 but if my budget doesnt allow it, I will buy 6. Shoot, I really dont want to buy another tank.

No, thats not as small as they sell them. Some sell them off at dime size. 6 each 2" fish in a 20 long will last 2 weeks tops if you are growing them out right.
