I am having difficulty determining my water Hardness I purchased the API Gh/KH test kit. I add approximately 3-4 drops to what I believe is "bright yellow". To see if I was in the ball park I called AQUA PA (Water Company) to ask what range my water hardness was she said it was 100-120 ppm. Asked about KH/GH they did not know what I was talking about. Are the two scales relatable? I just introduced a pressurized C02 system which is reducing my ph from 7.9 to 6.7. To determine the proper PH to C02 balance I need to know accurately the hardness, or at least I think I do.

I would use a digital meter, in fact that is all I use. I have very hard water so i monitor daily to make sure my RO unit is working the way I need it to.

That is the KH test, the GH test goes from orange to green. Multiply GH + KH by 17.8 to get ppm.

Here's a calculator http://www.hagen.com/uk/aquatic/gh_kh_conv_cal.cfm

Sorry for taking so long to answer. I use the "Pinpoint" conductivity monitor. I think it's around $100 but for these fish I think it is an expensive investment compared to everything else.
