I ALWAYS buy from Al! Won't get them from anywhere else, even if prices are different. Loyalty! Actually going to need more here soon...

Great timing Hans- just ordered from Al the other day. Really lookin forward to watching my discus devour his blackworms. I think you make a great point though for all of us to try and support the sponsors of this AWESOME website as much as we can so that it continues to be around for my screwups. Well that and its just a great bunch of people helping each other. And by the way thanks to Al and all the others for unknowingly helping a guy out with his fish!

Hans, I saw the ads on here and was like "whatever, the flakes and frozen are fine". You sent a sanple with my fish...when it ran out, I had 2 I think Discus on a hunger strike! So now you are a blackworm pimp too lol. My pair will ONLY eat blackworms and beefheart mix. Spoiled things they are.

Hi Jen,

as a PIMP I would make money on it, I don't on the Australian Freeze dried Black worms. I just help the man who is doing so much for us all, with his little business, selling those Australian Black worms, heck, I even buy them from him. I buy them by the kilo from Al lol lol

In addition to purchasing FDBW from Al, a little contribution to the forum from time to time couldn't hurt either.

Just a quick question if I may. How long would the 100g pack of the blackworms last someone with say 5 - 7 Juvies about 2 +/- inches?? First time getting ready for Discus and am trying to get an idea on how long some of these packs would last me?

I bought the 10gram bag and it had 24 cubes in it. I'm feeding it to five growout angelfish that have the bodysize of a 50cent piece. I feed half a cube at a time & they usually finish it in about 5 mins.

It would depend on what other foods your feeding, but I don't think you would run out any time soon with 100g. Keep in mind that you can't feed discus FDBW alone.

100 grams has lasted me a while with 8 juvies and now a pair of adults. But I feed other foods as well.

Now I'm confused. What is the difference between California and Austrailian black worms ?
Aquatic suppliers vs. Aquatic foods ? One is the owner of this site and the other is a sponsor ? Is that correct ?

You are correct, Aquaticsuppliers.com belongs to Al, the owner of this forum. His worms are more expensive. Dan at Aquatic foods in California (a sponsor on this forum) grows his own worms, and they are less expensive. I've used both. The worms from Dan seem to be larger, and the dry pack comes in a slab that you have to cut. The worms from Al are smaller, and come in very compact cubes (about the size of sugar cubes). It's your choice, and I don't think anyone on this forum will tell you what to do! LOL. OK, I take that back. But I sure won't. Good luck!
