Has anyone ordered Discus from Rainforest Farms International rfitropicalfish.com

I ordered once and ordered a super red melon and white leopard. The white leopard's bag leaked and barely had any water so after 2 days it died from stress. He did send a replacement (I had to pay another $45 for shipping) and that one lived for 7 months and died. It never really ate so I think it had issues to begin with. The super red melon is now fully grown and he is more orange than any red. but he is very round and very healthy. I was told the fish would be very dark red with a yellow face like the picture but it's not what I have. He looks more apricot. I'm not sure if this site is just sending crappy fish or what.

I want to order some yellow discus and don't know a good site to order from. The LFS never have any good ones and I've popping into all of them for 6months now and I've given up.. I need to order online. I live In Illinois. If anyone has had great luck with a site please let me know :)

Robin,

I ordered 12 discus (2 shipments) in total from Rainforest - all of which died within 5 days. To add insult to injury, those 12 discus killed 6 of other discus and Angelfish. I personally did not have a good experience with him - hard lesson. I would recommend using Simply Discus’s sponsors – Hans and Kenny.

After my recovery from Rainforest I ordered from Hans Discus – and the difference is night and day. Hans’s discus are fantastic!! I wish I could order more from him, but I need to buy a bigger tank – I don’t think my wife would approve. I have not personally have not ordered from Kenny, but I hear that he to have fantastic discus.

I would also throw in John's discus, very large fish, amazing quality, great customer service, and the shipping is incredible ( I find this is what lacks from a lot of vendors, and it can be the most important part as it can determine whether the fish even has a chance from the start). I havent had the priviledge of ordering from Kenny or Hans (directly anyway) yet but have only heard amazing things about them as well. Note that all of these people named have INCREDIBLE customer service and knowledge, they will ensure that their customers are happy and only send great quality fish that are transported well, because they know that the customer is the basis for their business. Hope that helps and gives you some good recommendations, all in all, use the sponsor section here as they are all honest and upstanding discus people that care truly about this hobby, not just making a quick dollar.

hold on, The Golden Lollipops might be not real colors , He stated that the yellow discus ate by yellow food sounds like color fed to them. If they are growing so well or will they successful spawning? or Will they do yellow colors fade?

SMOKES...

I wished I ran into this thread a week earlier.

I'm new to the FORUM and ordered two red dragons from him. He stated they both are young breeders (gotta cross my fingers now after reading the thread). The reason I ordered is because I get free fed ex priority shipping for them. The packing was very well done and looks good enough that that fish survived the shipment.

The two red dragons do have just a little specs on the face, just a tiny which I don't mind. The color and the body is perfect, no specs on body, clean. The colors are vibrant and the body structure is a perfect disk. They both look amazing.

They both are around 4"+ and eats like pigs.

Again I will have to see how they both do down the road. I will up date if anything goes wrong with them or if they are truly a young breeding pair like he states.

I've never heard much good about them, and I know some disreputable folks that use them as a supplier. That's enough to keep me away.
