Aging barrel

Is an aging barrel really necessary! my water is well water and it's almost perfect. But I have read lots of discus owners doing this.

Take 2 sample of your water. Test the Ph now on one sample, and then let other sit overnight in a glass but preferably being aerated and then test that sample after 24hours. If the PH moves more then 0.4 points then it is suggested to age your water to prevent any swings in PH which will negatively affect your fish.
