Hi everyone,

New on here and I wanted to ask if discus can live with yellow shrimp in a planted aquarium?
If not, what if I raise young discus with shrimp?
My pair had babies a month or so ago and juvies are about the size of a quarter; shrimp are about 1/2" to 1".

Thanks ahead.

:bandana: Fine for now but eventually discus will see shrimp for the snacks that they are. "T"

Yes and it wont take long once they figure out how good they taste to totally decimate your shrimp population. If you value your shrimp, I would advise against it.

I use to feed my shrimp culls to my Discus, most would grab them before they hit the bottom. I did have one tank of breeding adults that the shrimp thrived in, guess they just never got the taste for them.

I have a planted tank with a variety of shrimp and several wild discus. The discus seem to not recognize the shrimp as food and ignore them. The only close call I had was with the cherry shrimp because they look like frozen blood worms, which my discus love.

My discus ruthlessly hunt and kill any cull shrimp I toss in their tank
