I JUST got this group from Kenny this past March. They've been the best group of fish i've ever had. Lots of pairing activity, no confirmed pairs yet. They're healthy, fat and sassy... they eat Bill's BH flake, Ken's Veggie flakes, Earthworm sticks and Spirulina sticks... with occasional FBW's as a treat if they're acting cute and begging ;) All fish have superb shape and coloration. Kenny did an amazing job getting me the best of the best...


My family has hit some unexpected hard times this past month, and this summer is looking even more bleak. I have decided to open a home daycare and have been going through the motions to get a Child care Providers License as is required... licensing dept. took one look at my huge tank and said nu-uh. Apparently, its an earthquake hazard and if a child threw something hard... glass could break... yada yada. So everything has to go. Tank too. I can't describe to you guys how my gut is just wrenching posting for sale ad's.

I really want these beauties to go to someone who knows what they're doing and will take good care of them. I am not able to ship, but i can deliver anywhere from San Diego to Orange County if necessary.

To have a 'playroom' for the child care, i had to move us all into the second room in our apartment. With all of us sleeping in there there's no room for the 125. :'(

What about a bunk bed with the tank under it. It would take less floor space.

Licensing will not prohibit you for not having a aquarium in the living room. as long as secured, all equipment and wiring are hidding inside the wood stand.

Really trying to find a creative way to squeeze maybe even a smaller tank in the bedroom :)

Warblad, I was informed it was most definitely an issue- I'm upset to hear of discrepancies in practices and enforced guidelines for child care homes yet again- I've heard if several different things they sometimes choose to enforce or not to enforce. For example, some people report that they rarely or even never receive annual home inspections after they obtain their license... I guess it depends on where you live and how strict the department is.
To abide by what I was told, I still feel this is necessary to do.


Anyway guys, only a few fish left. I have 1 PE, 1 BSS, 1 AC and 1 tiger Turq on hold for someone to pick up in he morning.

It prob depends a lot on the person you talk to. Some people are very black and white (i.e. these are the rules, no grey areas). Some are more enlightened and realize that life is complex, that the rules are there to protect people but that there are responsible, trustworthy people who will provide a safe enviro once they know what to keep an eye out for. I would get a 2nd opinion.

Best of luck with your sale...your fish are stunning.
It is heartbreaking but I would play it safe and get rid of everything. The challenge with your own kids in addition to other kids will take much of your time. It's a wise choice. You’re young enough to wait for the right time to start over.
And by the way...this is your thread to sell your fish and should be kept at just that.
