Do people mistake your discus for saltwater fish? I have had a couple people ask me if they were saltwater.

To be honest I had people go wow over my saltwater reef and fowlr tanks but really no response to my discus tanks I have had, really think it is because of no deco and ugly sponge filters in the tank more than anything else

Yes, that would likely be the reason.
And that's why many freshwater enthusiasts put their 'kings of the aquarium' in planted tanks.
Many people feel they're so gorgeous (in a showpiece environment) that they mistake them for saltwater fish.
A lot of visitors look at my tank, and think the discus are marine fish.
