Wanting to incorporate some bottom feeders in my show tank. I keep it at 82. I have read that many people have had some pretty good luck with corys but on the other hand everything I have read on corys say they can't handle the temps. Any feedback? And other bottom feeders other then plecos?

corys are fine at mid 80s

Got several flocks in my 200g (Bronzes, Albinos, Pandas & Sterbia) and all are doing very well for more than 2 years now. My tank only drops below 82 during water changes (tend to make it a degree cooler).

go with the sterbai, they seem to do better in warmer waters.

Few varieties do well in warm water over the long term. Sterbais are the most commonly available one that do.

I agree with Martha. I use Sterbais (lol, from Martha, I might add) in my tanks.

Ditto on what Martha and Larry say. I too have Martha's sterbai.

Mine are breeding now. Thanks again Martha. I mixed mine(martha's) with wilds and they laid eggs a week ago, but non viable.

Not all Cory's can handle high temps. Aneus and Sterbai can handle the discus tank temps.

Wow, guys! I can't believe they are spawning already! My first albino sterbais fry hatched out a couple days ago. Stay tuned. :)

Hi old thread I realise but when people say discus temp, what temp are you saying?

Some people say 82 but others like me have the tank at 86f, is this ok for sterbai, julli and bronzes cories?

My tanks are at 82 - 84. Sterbai should be OK. Not quite sure about Julii.

Julies are good, I have mine for more than 6 months no losses, temp is 84-86

I had albinos at 86 degrees for 3 months with no problems

I still have Sterbai I kept in 92 degree F. for months while trying to get a few wild discus to eat a couple years back. The discus did by the way recover.

Cool I was worried for a while

I've had bronze and sterbai in my discus tank for a few years and they did great. On a side note, if you do get some be very careful if you ever decide to deworm. I recently lost about 40 or so within a day of using vermisol.

Did you lose sterbai? I've wormed my sterbai cories using vermisol without problems.

yup, sterbai and bronze. I had the same thing happen once before, but didn't connect it with the vermisol, and not the 100% loss I had this time. Luckily I still have my breeders. Sorry Guys, didn't want to side track the thread but OP was asking about putting cories with discus so wanted to share potentially important info.
